The Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Bintan Regency, along with the Social Resilience team, conducted a series of audiences with the Heads of Villages and Subdistrict Heads at each village and subdistrict office in Bintan Regency, as part of the socialization of the Village Potential Data Collection (PODES) and the "Village/Subdistricts Love Statistics" (CANTIK) program, which was held in each village and subdistrict.
The audience sessions between the Head of BPS Bintan Regency and the Heads of Villages and Subdistrict Heads in various areas of Bintan Regency were held on different dates. The first audience took place in Penaga Village and Bintan Buyu Village on February 17, 2025. Then, on February 19, 2025, an audience was held in North Toapaya Village, Toapaya Village, and Toapaya Asri Subdistrict. The audience with Tembeling Tanjung Subdistrict was conducted on February 24, 2025, followed by the audience with Kawal Subdistrict on February 25, 2025, and finally, the audience with Kota Baru Subdistrict on February 27, 2025. These audience activities aimed to strengthen cooperation in data collection on village potential and activities and support the "Village/Subdistricts Love Statistics" program in the region.
The "Desa Cantik" program is an innovative initiative initiated by BPS. This program is designed to enhance the competence of village officials in managing and utilizing statistical data, ultimately improving the quality of village development planning. It is specifically targeted at Villages, Subdistricts, Nagaris, or equivalent areas across Indonesia, including Bintan Regency. Broadly, the goal of the "Desa Cantik" program is to create a more efficient system for managing statistical data and ensure that village development can proceed in a more targeted manner. This program has three main objectives: improving statistical literacy, awareness, and active participation of village officials and communities in the management of statistical data for development activities; standardizing statistical data management to ensure the quality and comparability of statistical indicators at the village level; and optimizing the use of statistical data so that development programs in villages are more accurate and aligned with local needs.
During each meeting held at the village and subdistrict offices, the Head of BPS Bintan Regency communicated the purpose of this activity, which was to encourage closer collaboration between BPS and village/subdistrict governments in obtaining valid data on the potential and activities within the village and subdistrict. This data will be used as a basis for planning development and making more accurate decisions. Furthermore, during these audience sessions, the Head of BPS emphasized the importance of the active involvement of village heads, subdistrict heads, and communities in the data collection process, aiming for every village and subdistrict to utilize the obtained data for sustainable development purposes. The Village Heads and Subdistrict Heads present at these audiences welcomed the "Village/Subdistricts Love Statistics" program and expressed their full commitment to supporting the data collection activities, with the hope that through solid cooperation, high-quality data will be generated to support more focused and community-appropriate development in Bintan Regency.
Through better data management, it is expected that the "Desa Cantik" program will become one of the best efforts in creating more independent and competitive villages in facing future development challenges.
