The Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) plans to conduct the 2026 Economic Census, which will encompass various types of businesses distributed across Indonesia. The businesses covered by this census will include a wide range of sectors, including mining and excavation (KBLI B), manufacturing (KBLI C), electricity, gas, steam, hot water, and cold air supply (KBLI D), water management, wastewater treatment, recycling of waste, and remediation activities (KBLI E), construction (KBLI F), wholesale and retail trade, repair and maintenance of motor vehicles and motorcycles (KBLI G), transportation and warehousing (KBLI H), accommodation and food service activities (KBLI I), information and communication (KBLI J), financial and insurance activities (KBLI K), real estate (KBLI L), professional, scientific, and technical activities (KBLI M and N), education (KBLI P), human health activities and social work (KBLI Q), and other services (KBLI R-S).
Given the extensive scope and the large number of businesses involved, the 2026 Economic Census requires thorough preparation, particularly in strengthening the prelist that will be used as a reference during the data collection process. Therefore, the BPS of Riau Islands Province has developed a web-based application called "SEHATI."
The primary objective of the SEHATI application is to compile a list of business actors identified by BPS employees across the Riau Islands Province. In addition, SEHATI aims to gather useful information for identifying areas of business concentration and non-concentration, which will facilitate the distribution of tasks and control the workload of field staff within each SLS during the implementation of Wilkerstat. With this application, BPS in Riau Islands Province is expected to strengthen the existing data in the SBR profile, which in turn will support the enhancement of the prelist for the 2026 Economic Census. To achieve this goal, all BPS employees in Riau Islands Province will conduct independent data collection using the SEHATI application. This data collection will be carried out to ensure that the gathered data is more accurate, complete, and representative.
These steps demonstrate BPS's commitment to addressing the significant challenges of the 2026 Economic Census while ensuring that the collected data is accurate and reliable for data-driven policy-making and supporting more equitable economic development across Indonesia, particularly in the Riau Islands Province.
