The number of foreign tourists or tourists visiting the Riau Islands Province in December 2018 reached 319,451 visits, an increase of 44.59 percent compared to the number of foreign tourists in the previous month, where the number of tourists in November 2018 was 220,938 visits. When compared with December 2017, foreign tourists visiting in December 2018 also experienced an increase of 19.89 percent.
Foreign tourists visiting Riau Islands Province in January-December 2018 were dominated by Singaporean tourists with a percentage of 49.66 percent of the total number of foreign tourists in January-December 2018.
Cumulatively, the number of foreign tourists visiting the Riau Islands Province during January - December 2018 reached 2,635,664 visits, up 23.16 percent compared to the number of foreign tourists visited in the same period the previous year which amounted to 2,139,962 visits.
The room occupancy rate (TPK) of star hotels in Riau Islands Province in December 2018 reached an average of 65.63 percent, up 7.33 points compared to November 2018's TPK of 58.30 percent.
