Abstract

The number of foreign tourists or tourists visiting the Riau Islands Province in January 2019 reached 185,377 visits, a decrease of 41.97 percent compared to the number of foreign tourists in the previous month, where the number of foreign tourists in December 2018 was 319,451 visits. When compared with January 2018, foreign tourist visits in January 2019 actually increased, which amounted to 18.09 percent.

Foreign tourists visiting Riau Islands Province in January 2019 were dominated by Singaporean tourists with a percentage of 47.75 percent of the total number of foreign tourists in January 2019.

The Room Occupancy Rate (TPK) of star hotels in Riau Islands Province in January 2019 reached an average of 65.63 percent or an increase of 7.33 points compared to November 2018's TPK of 58.30 percent. The average length of stay of foreign guests and Indonesian guests in star-rated hotels in Riau Islands Province in January 2019 was 2.07 days, up 0.36 points compared to the average length of stay in December 2018.
