Abstract

• The number of foreign tourists or tourists visiting the Riau Islands Province in January 2018 reached 156,946 visits, a 39.99 percent decrease compared to the number of foreign tourists in the previous month, where the number of foreign tourists in December 2017 was 261,525 visits. When compared with January 2017, tourist arrivals in January 2018 decreased, which amounted to 10.04 percent.

• Tourists visiting the Riau Islands Province in January 2018 were dominated by Singaporean tourists with a percentage of 42.38 percent of the total number of foreign tourists in January 2018.

• The Room Occupancy Rate (TPK) of star hotels in Riau Islands Province in January 2018 reached an average of 48.99 percent, down 10.92 points compared to the December 2017 TPK of 59.91 percent.

• The average length of stay of foreign guests and Indonesian guests in star-rated hotels in the Riau Islands Province in January 2018 was 2.15 days, up 0.37 points compared to the average length of stay in December 2017.
